PawPass Privacy Policy

PawPass is published by FocusLX LLC. PawPass respects your privacy. This policy explains what information PawPass handles, where it is stored, and how it is used.

Information stored on your device

The pet profiles, photos, contacts, records, documents, reminders, and health logs (walks, weigh-ins, and meals) you enter in PawPass are stored on your device. If you import contacts from your Contacts app or add photos with your camera or photo library, only the items you choose are copied into PawPass.

iCloud sync

If you turn on iCloud Sync (a Premium feature), your PawPass data is stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service so it can sync across your devices. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and is not accessible to PawPass. You can turn off iCloud Sync at any time in PawPass settings.

Sharing a pet

If you share a pet with another PawPass user (a Premium feature), a copy of that pet's profile, including its photo, contacts, records, documents, and health logs, is stored in PawPass's CloudKit database so the people you share it with can view it, and edit it if you give them edit access. When you revoke a share or delete the pet, the shared copy is deleted.

Apple Health

If you choose to import walks from the Apple Health app, PawPass reads only the walking, running, and hiking workouts you select, and copies only their date, distance, and duration into your pet's walk log. PawPass does not read heart rate, calories, routes, or any other health data, never writes to Apple Health, and never uses Health data for advertising or shares it with third parties. Imported walks become part of your pet's walk log, which syncs through iCloud and is shared with the people you share the pet with, as described above.

Public pet pages and QR code scans

When you enable a pet's tag, the pet information and contact details you choose to make public are published on a webpage on pawpass.net, hosted by Cloudflare. Anyone who scans the pet's QR code can see that page. Turning off the pet's tag or deleting the pet removes the page.

When someone scans a pet's QR code, PawPass records the time of the scan. If the person scanning chooses to share their location, PawPass also records that location so the owner can see where the pet was found. PawPass keeps the most recent 20 scans for each pet. Finders do not need to install an app or create an account.

Notifications

To notify you when your pet's tag is scanned, PawPass stores your device's push notification token with your pet's public page. The token is removed when you delete the pet.

Purchases

PawPass Premium is sold as a subscription through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment, and PawPass does not receive your payment details.

Custom QR collar tags are sold through Stripe. Stripe processes your payment, and PawPass does not store your full payment card information. PawPass receives your name, email address, and shipping address to fulfill and ship your order, sends an order confirmation by email, and keeps order details for up to 90 days.

What PawPass does not do

PawPass does not sell your personal information, does not use your information for advertising, and does not include third-party advertising or analytics.

Deleting your information

Deleting a pet in PawPass removes it from your device, from iCloud if iCloud Sync is on, from any shares, and from pawpass.net, including its scan history. Deleting the app removes the information stored on your device.
